“As you can see from this photo – taken by Asheville photographer Micah Mackenzie – I love showing off my glamorous side.  As far back as I can remember I have felt a strong connection to all things from the past.  From pretending to be a Hitchcock heroine to spinning vinyl on my dad’s record player, I was quite the little outcast among my classmates!  Now, however, I feel like maybe it was all in training for this!”
“My vision for Commerce Street Mercantile is to create an ambiance that transports visitors to the past, while introducing them to new products that evoke feelings of nostalgia.”
The retro-style store is spacious, with a cushy vintage couch off to the side for cozy conversations or for customers who can’t wait until they get home to play with their fun purchases.
“I hunted down every supplier of retro-style goodies I could find so that I could carry items I myself would buy,” says Courtney.  “A retro scarf, slip, or bowler hat may be all you need to add a little glamour to your day!  On the other hand, if it is a gift you are searching for, the shop is fully stocked with kitschy presents for all personality types.  And don’t forget toys!  There is a reason the contemporary toy market is relaunching old school favorites, because classics never go out of style.”

Commerce Street Mercantile in Waynesville, NC welcome feedback and suggestions. “If there’s something you want that you don’t see, don’t hesitate to let me know. Chances are if you want it, I will too!”
